Our year-long adventure is not quite the first time we’ve left home with the kids. With Ethan we started slowly, sticking to the first world for a while, and even [gasp] a cruise for that first trip with baby. By the time Aaron came along four years later we just didn’t have it in us to postpone our usual travels any longer — his 25th flight was two weeks before his second birthday (international flights are 90% off for kids under 2.) Our travel style did start to creep up in comfort with the kids, so the father-son trip I took with Ethan when he was 6 was a chance to see if it was possible to go back to roughing it. Now we’re back to staying in hostels, brothels, and mud huts.
Of course all these previous trips had to fit into the standard two weeks we could get off from work. The pictures at the top of the pages on this site are from our trips to Morocco, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Peru, and Turkey.
